SKULLZIE SEZ:
At first I
thought I missed the place!
Cleverly disguised as it once
was, a sort of Asian health
spa/massage parlor,
the venue,
named Happy Ending (get it?
Happy Ending!!!), was easy to
glance over if it weren't for
the several club-going smokers
puffing away outside. I entered.
At second I thought I came in on
the wrong night! The main floor
of this seemingly trendy venue
was populated by a painfully
"bright" crowd getting rather "Jiggy"
to some of today's more
mainstream popular tunes.
Then...just as was about to
abandon all hope...I spotted a
cryptic sign designed with the
following hieroglyphics:
Stairs -- Arrow pointing down --
Man/Woman -- Martini Glass.
Deductive reasoning and
countless hours of C.S.I. and
Scooby-Doo lead me to believe
that here was an underworld to
be discovered below! As I made
my descent, the familiar beats
of energetic goth songs grew
louder to my hungry ears. Whew!
I found it!
The space is small to moderately
sized...not very big...but not
too cramped, either. Plus, it
has all of these neat knooks and
crannies that are adapted to be
semi-private sitting areas
(*Hint: Get there somewhat early
to claim your very own knook
and/or cranny!). The long orange
slabbed bar looks as though you
fell to the bottom of a bottle
of Absolute Mandarine! Pretty
chic stuff! But beware...the
drink prices can also get pretty
chic as well! But in fairness,
the drink portions are not at
all skimpy...moreover, you will
find free Vitamin-Water &
VitaminEnergy all night long, as
well as a Open Bass Ale Bar from
11pm to Midnight, making this
the most liquid generous event
around!
Now, granted, the Free
Admission, and non-existent
dress code policy attracts a
somewhat more eclectic crowd
than most of us are comfortable
with...but the
Diabolik event is
a hidden gem that has yet to be
properly discovered and fully
enjoyed by our dark community!
Actually, if you are still
unsure about this monthly event,
let me sum up Diabolik in the
following manner:
If trendy clubs are
where models go...
And Underground clubs are where
goths go...
Then Diabolik is where goth
models go! |
