Hipster Club Busted!
The NYPD has shut down two of the most popular hipster nightclubs in N.Y.C., notably Pacha and Marquee, in an undercover drug sting that started last  January of this year. Vice investigators posed as party-goers looking to buy a wide assortment of drugs such as Ecstasy, Special K, and Marijuana.
The closing of Marquee also made for some last minute "angry" venue changes since it was set to be the official After-Party space for the Gay Pride Parade held this past Sunday. New Goth City is proud to announce that this sort of thing doesn't happen in the Goth scene!

Spy vs. Sci
The anti-Scientologist group known as Anonymous is set for another global protest in front of Scientology centers in major cities across the world on Saturday July 12th. The protest's theme of Spy vs. Sci calls into question this "religion's" intelligence agency, called the Office of Special Affairs (OSA), and their alleged abuses. Protesters are urged to dress as a popular spy character such as James Bond, Austin Powers, a Femme Fatale, etc., but not as Tom Cruise's character in Mission: Impossible!

The Dead Shall Be Ignored!
What do you get when you cross a dying woman, a neglectful and moronic hospital staff, and a video surveillance camera? The perfect Gothic Gazette story (with video), that's what!!!  Here's what happened: As the surveillance camera at King's County Hospital, in Brooklyn, continued to record the goings-on at the hospital's small psych ward waiting room in the dawn hours of the morning, mental patient Ms. Esmin Green, 49, is seen to be sitting quietly off to the side. At 5:32am she suddenly keels over out of her chair and flops facedown  to the floor. Two other patients in the room see this but say nothing (Hello...mental ward!). At 5:53am a security guard takes a long look at her from a distance and leaves. At about 6am Ms. Green is thrashing about, but by 6:08am she is not moving, and by 6:20am (almost a full hour later) she is pronounced dead as a medical team finally tends to her. The cause of death is still unknown. We'll let the video speak for itself...take a look!

Supermodel Suicide
On the afternoon of Saturday June 21st, at approximately 2:30pm, 20 year old super-model Ruslana Korshunova, from Kazakhstan, fell to her death as she plunged 9 stories from her Financial District apartment on Water Street in an apparent suicide. While this young model's final decision to end her life is indeed tragic, especially to her friends and family, at New Goth City we feel it important to point out that countless of  "not so young and beautiful" people commit suicide everyday without ever getting the honor of a front page article in major newspapers!

Central Park Gets Scary!
Atari & Eden Games are set to release its upcoming horror video game entitled "Alone in the Dark," available for XBOX 360, Playstation2, and PC. The Mature-rated game features a detail rich replica of N.Y.C.'s Central Park as its virtual environment, filled with zombies, demonic bats, and other spooky delights. Game developers used GPS technology along with photorealistic rendering methods to digitally recreate Central Park's landscape down to a 20 inch precision! New Goth City declares this the must-have video game of the year.  For more information on Alone in the Dark, click here.

Teen Loses Head Over Batman Ride
A 17 year old teenager, ignoring "Do Not Enter" and "Danger Zone" signs, climbed a six foot fence into a restricted area under the Batman rollercoaster ride at Six Flags theme park in Austell, GA. As the coaster cars soared over him at 50 m.p.h., the teenager was swiftly decapitated. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper reported that the boy was visiting the theme park with a church group from South Carolina. The lesson here: Church goers need to read the warning signs!

ATTENTION!!!

Thursday, June 12 will mark Deconstructed's Finale!!!

Starting the night at 8pm with a special Dawn of Ashes concert, the midnight after-party will be witness to the last of the Deconstructed parties.

Sources say that the decision to terminate the event was a hard one to make, but personal obligations, as well as the rising costs to promote the event were strong factors that pressed such a drastic measure.

The N.Y.C. Goth scene loses another great club night...

you shall be missed!

BREAKING NEWS!

On Friday, May 16th, 2008
Contempt moves to a

BRAND NEW HOME!

This is what the organizers of Contempt have to say about it:

M1-5 was a great venue, right? So why leave?!

Well, in our last years at Remote, the Goth lounge on the upper level took on a wonderful life of its own. We've sincerely missed being able to offer more than one sound environment since our move to M1-5. So while we enjoyed our stay there, we knew from the beginning that it was not ultimately what we were looking for in a long-term home.

We're thrilled to announce that we've finally found a venue that fits the bill…and you're gonna love it!

Our inaugural event in the new space will be:

Friday, May 16th @ BLVD
199 Bowery (at Spring St.
, just north of Delancey)

...and every THIRD FRIDAY OF THE MONTH thereafter...

BLVD is a beautiful, versatile space that will feature the usual pulsing main dance floor with DJ SubVert at the helm as well as the RETURN OF OUR GOTH LOUNGE featuring the dark stylings of DJ Frankie Teardrop.
And the icing on the cake? The goth lounge will have a dance floor, too! So all of you who loved the upstairs room at Remote but wished you had room to dance...your prayers have been answered!

There's so much more to say about this awesome new place, but there's plenty of time for details. For now, all you need to know is...

CONTEMPT IS BACK...AND WE'RE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!!!!

04.20.08 -

Check out the cool TRON GAME featured on BYTE's profile page!!!

This Lightcycle game was provided by none other than BYTE's own Marke to get you all in the right mood for his next event on May 18th, where we will all be celebrating his birthday!

Oh, and if you haven't a clue as to what TRON is...go out and rent the movie!

04.15.08 -

On the plus side: Chandra gets to experience winter all over again!!!

03.31.08 -

01.28.08 -   Club Anubis still struggles to find a permanent venue. Due to a changeover in management at Gypsy Tea, DJ Ian Fford tells us, there were some conflicts in scheduling, thus he chose to take his event on the road once again in search of the perfect venue fit for his Thursday night staple event. Keep your eyes on the Upcoming Event list for further news about regarding their new, and hopefully lasting venue.

01.28.08 -   Starting Saturday February 9th, Salvation will be moved from Rififi's to Don Hill's, located at 511 Greenwich Street in Manhattan. The move was prompted by unforeseeable actions regarding Rififi's liquor license (remember The Orchard issue?). Also regarding this change in venue will be be the admission price...no longer will Salvation be a free event, however the price is kept relatively low at $5.00 at the door or $3.00 with a Salvation flyer or if you show your R.I.P. Pin. For more details about this event and directions to its new venue, click here.

01.08.08 -   Voltaire to perform live at this month's Dead Heaven Event in honor of his Birthday!!! Click here for complete details.

01.01.08 -

January is the Official "BRING A NON-GOTH OUT WITH YOU" Month! That means if you have a friend, co-worker, or family member (or even someone you despise!) that has always been intrigued by your style and what you do for fun at night, dress him and/or her in some simple black clothes and have them tote along with you on your next night out! A few suggestions to help them ease into the scene would be to take them to Necromantic, Salvation, Contempt, Wierd, or any other event of the like that are not so "out there!"

You never know...you might make a new Goth out of 'em!!!

12.21.07 -   New Goth City has just received the first batch of R.I.P. Pins and are now available for purchase! Abstraction! is the first event to officially offer a discount of $2.00 off regular admission price to R.I.P. Pin wearers at their Pre-New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball this Saturday night!

11.02.07 -

Word on the street is that The Red Party's Venue, The Orchard, located on 200 Orchard Street is in danger of disappearing as early as this Sunday night due the refusal of a liquor license transfer. Below is the original MySpace bulletin by D.J. Templar:

This is a sin, a travesty to everything we worked so hard for!
Knowing the owners and staff personally, they have always worked professionally and within the boundaries of the law (sometimes a little to much). This is not the type of establishment that should be hassled, it is a waste of time. I implore everyone to sign this petition, please this is our city and The Orchard is a sanctuary for a lot of us Goths and Miscasts.

Please repost and spread the word, I can not stress this enough, The Orchard should not one of these gems that disappear into the annals of "remember that cool place, I miss it".

Please repost and sign the petition!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far...repost as much as you can, with as many positive community comments as possible..
we luv u

As a side note...the same thing happened to the Paradise Lost Myspace profile page back on September 29th...coincidence???

09.21.07 -   The Core (191 Orchard St., NYC) was abruptly sold without warning and thus forcing Paradise Lost to find a replacement venue. Luckily, they found a new home at Lucky Cheng's upstairs Karaoke lounge, and their next event, on Friday September 28th will be held there. Lucky Cheng's is located at 24 1st Avenue, between 1st and 2nd Streets.
